South Louisiana to Appalachia Solidarity Initiative
Share
For generations, the people in the southern states have faced the devastating impact of natural disasters. But we’ve also faced the harsh reality of being abandoned by the systems meant to protect us. From Louisiana’s wetlands to Appalachia’s mountains, our communities have long been left to fend for ourselves amidst life-threatening climate change, and land and resource exploitation. Both our neoliberal and conservative policies prioritize profit and state gain over public health and safety, leaving our most vulnerable communities at risk.
Our initiative, South Louisiana to Appalachia, is rooted in the belief that solidarity — not abandonment — is how we overcome these crises! We’ve compiled a list of grassroots organizations actively providing food, clean water, shelter, and rescue to those impacted by Hurricane Helene.
We will also be donating proceeds starting next week, so make sure to keep a look out!
By coming together, we aim to challenge the destructive forces that have ravaged our land and our people, while reclaiming the values of mutual aid, community care, and collective resilience!
This list will be updated regularly!
